ARE THE SQUEEZE PACKS RECYCLABLE/COMPOSTABLE?
No. Right now, there is no technology that exists for a fully compostable or recyclable squeeze pack (but we’ll continue to explore this as a possibility!).
WHY DOES JUSTIN’S USE PLASTIC JARS INSTEAD OF GLASS?
We truly appreciate your feedback and suggestion! Glass jars are more susceptible to breakage in production and shipping. Our 100% BPA-free recyclable plastic jars provide for a shatter-free experience.
WHAT IS JUSTIN’S ONE-OF-A-KIND GRIND?
The texture you are experiencing in our nut butters is related to the different processes used to create Justin’s delicious one-of-a-kind grind. We hope you enjoy the nuttiness of our peanut, almond, and cashew butters and agree that different can be delicious too!

DO I NEED TO REFRIGERATE MY JAR AFTER OPENING? HOW LONG WILL THE PRODUCT LAST AFTER OPENING?
Nope! We recommend storing our nut butters at room temperature so that it is easier to spread.
The optimal shelf life of our nut butters is 1 year from its manufacturing date. From a food safety standpoint, our nut butters are safe to consumer past the optimal shelf life, however product quality will decrease the longer it sits past the optimal shelf life. As with any product made without artificial preservatives, we recommend eating our nut butters by the Best By Date (which is printed on the jar).
DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS (GMOS)?
At Justin’s, we are committed to sourcing the highest quality ingredients, and we believe that our consumers should be able to make informed choices about the foods they eat. That is why we only source GMO-free ingredients in our products, and why we will have verified our entire product line through the Non-GMO Project by 2019. See the list of our currently verified products here>.
WHY DOES JUSTIN’S USE PALM OIL? IS IT SUSTAINABLY SOURCED?
The reason that we use palm oil is because it is a Non-GMO, non-hydrogenated oil that acts as a stabilizer and reduces oil separation. This means less stirring for you every time you dip into a jar! Adding other liquid oils wouldn’t stabilize the nut butters and would increase the oil layer at the top of the jar.
From the beginning, Justin’s has been focused on the responsible sourcing of all our ingredients, including our palm oil, and we are constantly pushing the supply chain for advancements in this area. We are members of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm), which currently represents about 20% of the total palm oil supply. The RSPO encourages sustainable growing practices and human rights initiatives at the farm level, while promoting education about the cultivation and use of certified sustainable palm oil. RSPO is the leading organization to date for sustainably sourced palm oil and Justin’s is proud to be among the companies who are actively involved and invested in supporting these initiatives. To learn more about RSPO’s certification standards, click here.
All of our Certified Organic palm oil in our peanut butter cups is sourced from Central and South America and is certified under a fully traceable supply chain model. The palm oil used in our nut butter jars, squeeze packs and snack packs is also certified sustainable under a mixed supply chain model. In addition to their RSPO membership, all of our palm oil suppliers have built their own independent sustainability policies, and the mass balance suppliers have plans to be fully traceable by 2020. ARE THERE NUT BUTTER FLAVORS WITHOUT ADDED SUGAR OR SALT?

WHAT IS THE ALMOND PASTEURIZATION PROCESS?
Justin’s uses a steam pasteurization method to assure salmonella prevention.
WHY IS MY NUT BUTTER JAR/SQUEEZE PACK SOMETIMES THICK WITH NO OIL SEPARATION?
We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration. Our nut butters should always be creamy and delicious! Although we strive to minimize oil separation in all of our nut butters, the nut butter should never be so dry that it is difficult to spread or get out of the jar. If you’ve experienced this, we recommend noting the best by date printed on the jar. Next time you’re at the store, be sure to pick up a jar with a different best by date to ensure it’s coming from a different batch. Additionally, we would love to hear from you if you’ve experienced this so we can fix it!
DOES JUSTIN’S OFFER AN ORGANIC NUT BUTTER?
Our nut butter cups are made with organic ingredients. While our nut butters are not certified organic, we strive to source our ingredients as mindfully as possible and use organic ingredients wherever possible. If you have any additional questions, we’d love to hear your thoughts!
WHERE CAN I BUY JUSTIN’S IF I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.?
While we have limited availability outside of the U.S., our organic Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups can be found at most Starbucks locations throughout Canada. You can also find our Honey Peanut Butter squeeze pack in the protein box at Starbucks.
For more international availability, please check out http://iherb.com.
WHERE CAN I FIND THE 12 OZ JARS OF NUT BUTTER?
The 12 oz jars are available in Classic Almond, Chocolate Hazelnut, Maple Almond, Honey Almond and Vanilla Almond Butter exclusively at Target and some Walmart locations. To confirm that your store carries these products, we recommend calling first.
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS KOSHER?
Our nut butters, nut butter cups and covered nuts are Kosher! All products are certified by OU Kosher.
WHY IS THERE A WHITE COATING ON THE SURFACE OF MY NUT BUTTER?
What you are seeing in your Chocolate Hazelnut Butter or Vanilla Almond Butter jars is called cocoa bloom. This occurs naturally when the cocoa butter separates, solidifies and rises to the surface of the jar. Although this blooming is not a food safety hazard, and it is still consumable, we understand how the appearance may be alarming. If you would like to send a message with the flavor and best by date and a picture of the cocoa bloom, we’d love to replace your jar!
