ARE JUSTIN’S NUT BUTTER COVERED NUTS FREE OF PEANUT CROSS-CONTAMINATION?
Our covered nuts are produced on equipment that processes peanuts, other tree nuts, milk, soy, and wheat. There is an extensive sanitation process between each batch. Our covered nuts have been certified gluten-free by the GFCO.
WHY ARE THE COLORS OF THE NUT BUTTER COVERED NUTS DIFFERENT?
You may notice the difference in color between the two types of covered nuts. The almond butter, cashew butter, and the nuts that make them are naturally different colors. No dyes, glazes or colors are used in our coatings so the color you see is true to the organic nut butter coating we use.
WHY DO WE USE PALM OIL IN OUR COVERED NUTS? IS IT SUSTAINABLY SOURCED?
The reason that we use palm oil is because it is a Non-GMO and organic non-hydrogenated oil that stabilizes the nut butter coating on our covered nuts.
Our Certified Organic palm oil in our covered nuts is sourced from South America and is certified under a fully traceable supply chain model. In addition to their RSPO membership, all of our palm oil suppliers have built their own independent sustainability policies. To learn more about Justin’s sustainable palm oil journey, click here.
From the beginning, Justin’s has been focused on the responsible sourcing of all our ingredients, including our palm oil, and we are constantly pushing the supply chain for advancements in this area. We are members of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm), which currently represents about 20% of the total palm oil supply. The RSPO encourages sustainable growing practices and human rights initiatives at the farm level, while promoting education about the cultivation and use of certified sustainable palm oil. RSPO is the leading organization to date for sustainably sourced palm oil and Justin’s is proud to be among the companies who are actively involved and invested in supporting these initiatives.
